Well-preserved parts of the wall of the "Neuen Burg" were discovered under the historic square. Above the excavation site, a new exhibition building as an "Archaeological Window" is to open up a view into the past and make the guarantee of the "Neue Burg" permanently tangible. Based on this measure, the Hopfenmarkt is also to be fundamentally renewed. Concept: With the archaic image of the hut, an irritating element is presented in the urban space, which at the same time refers to the history of the old core of the settlement in the area of the "Neue Burg". In interaction with the glass band of the extended window in the area of the terrain section and the open space design, an independent place with the character of an „environments“ is created. The main goal of the open space design is to improve safety, comfort and orientation for pedestrians and the functionality of traffic.
