A building ensemble for the hybrid systems research building of the Humboldt University in Berlin divides the open space into three areas. These are given different characters and focuses of use. On the representative forecourt of the research building, the symmetrical architecture is broken up in the form of large seating pebbles. The rear delivery courtyard with a large insertion opening is strictly and functionally structured. The areas along the existing buildings form lightly modeled lawns that also serve as retention areas for the surface water that accumulates on the site.
