A campus in the heart of Paderborn, a communal space for both the seminary and the Catholic University. Recently the buliding went through an extensive conservation and expantion programme carried out by Bieling Architekten, which now has been complimented by our redesign of the outdoor facilities. Starting with the centrepiece, the inner courtyard next to the new seminary church. This space contains symbolic elements in the form of an apple tree and a clay wall. Limestone paving disolves into the space from the building interior to form a relationship between the interior and exterior. In contrast to this is the extensive parkland landscape. Here the area has been upgraded with a new path hierarchy and strengthened in its qualities. The area is divided into a northern public park and a southern garden area. A tree-covered recreational band acts as a filter between the different areas of use. With contemplative grass planting it offers a diverse mix of recreational opportunities for the users.
