Stance & Understanding

Stance & Understanding

Our aim is to confront all tasks without preconception or reservation; with a benign interest for sites, their histories and stories. And a great enthusiasm for the human factor. As represented by our planning partners. And the unknown user. Because, in the end, landscape architecture will be mainly this: Proposal and incentive for human action.

Passion & Commitment

Passion & Commitment

At the base of everything we do is the enjoyment of landscape architecture as a creative discipline. Connected to the aim to be pleasant and committed companions for our project partners. The necessary base for this is an excellent and highly motivated team. With professional competence and efficiency. And the ethical idea that one's own work should have positive effect for others. And, finally, with the indomitable urge to meet each and every project with passion.

Dialogue & Composition

Dialogue & Composition

To design is unthinkable without dialogue. But dialogue itself doesn't lead to form. We combine both methodically. And call our way of working "dialogical design". This comprises an attitude based on dialectics, openness, respect - maybe even altruism. Central claim in this is to communicate the design process comprehensibly. In order to forego incomprehension or arbitrariness. Accordingly, for us dialogical processes with protagonists are no necessary evil, but rather a constituent element and condition of our design work.

Aesthetics & Adequacy

Aesthetics & Adequacy

To us, the essence of the work of landscape architects could well be described as a search for adequate spatial and structural concepts for specific sites. For our work the term adequacy plays a central role: it serves as a corrective, as an overarching standard for gauging relevance and quality of designs and approaches.

Movement & Calm

Movement & Calm

The perception and quality of design is inseparably related to the expectations that people or society might have. In the case of landscape architecture, there seems to be a historic continuity of requiring "movement" and "calm". It can be assumed that the quality of today's and future open spaces will always have to be measured by an intelligent balance between these two phenomena.

Sustainability & Designing

Sustainability & Designing

Building can only be sustainable if based on a respectful dialogue between all participants and the specific site. The discourse on the issue of sustainability, however, leans towards asserting ethically argued "truths" that ignore context. However, the complexity of the question what adequate answers to a given situation might be can only be dealt with by method of design (i.e. observing and reflecting the context without preconceptions, developing a stance, and then professionally "good" and contextually adequate solutions).
